The forest is located in the surroundings of the historical commune of Poienile de sub Munte (Ukrainian: Русь Поляни; Hungarian: Ruszpolyána; Polish: Ruska Polana; German: Reußenau; Hebrew: פאליען-ריסקווה) in Maramures County, northern Romania. Poienile de Sub Munte is one of the oldest places in Maramures, being mentioned for the first time in 1353.

For area (A): Current market price for spruce is approx. 90 EUR/m³.For area (B): The owner receives two grants totaling 40,000 EUR from the Romanian State.The owner appointed the National Forest Administration Romsilva, Maramures, as the sole contracted manager to provide the Management Plan, including management of the hunting and fishing areas.The Management Plan currently in place expires in January 2016. As of August 2015 there are more than 51,000 m³ of forest, which reached the age of exploitation, left to be harvested.
